It's not both

It's either a "tad" or a "bit". It's not a "tad bit".

  • I'd be ok with "a little bit" or "a small tad" (though that one doesn't quite sound right), but "tad" and "bit" are both nouns, and one does not modify a noun with another noun.

    Except, of course, for you, Suze. You may modify a noun however you please :)

    Anyway, have I thoroughly and completely picked that nit?

    Personally I wouldn't say tadbit cause it sounds silly and reminds me of tadpoles which I don't like.
